It was a rainy autumn, but when we reached Munich sun greeted us generously.

At that moment we knew we just want to be outside and enjoy the colorful time of the year to its fullest.

SUN IN AUTUMN

I was there with Maja, my dearest friend, who talk a lot about death in such a worldly and humoristic way that makes that kind of conversation just a casual thing to do. I myself wander graveyards and find some kind of peace that cannot be found anywhere else.

It was no wonder that we decided for a morning walk through a graveyard after we examined city map for a minute and spotted huge one on the way to the city center. Its ground plan has the shape of sarcophagus which was probably another reason we made it into a must stop during our Munich trip.

OLD SOUTH GRAVEYARD

It was more like park strolling feeling as many locals are here meeting up friends, reading a book or just passing. Ivy-covered walls and abundance of fern welcomed us as we entered through massive brick wall entrance. Monuments, lined up by the path, were full of moss protected in a shadow of magnificent trees of endless yellowish shades.

Old South Graveyard also known as Alter Südlicher Friedhof was established in 1563 which makes it the oldest graveyard of Munich. It was built for victims of the plague and it was located outside the city gates. For a period of 80 years (1788 – 1868) this was the main burial place of the city and from that reason you are able to hunt down the tombs of several well-known Munich inhabitants.

GERMAN TASTES

After couple of hours of graveyard chilling we needed to fuel up with some typical German food. We headed to Viktualienmarkt, daily food market in the city center. It developed from a farm market and storage, which was situated on today’s Marienplatz.   was called simply a market place, but eventually adopted Latin word victuals which means food.

Among tons of sausages as well as tempting tropical fruits we ended up filling ourselves with a lot of gluten. As we knew we will meet up in Bali in few months, we decided to stay away from tropical flavors and got ourselves bunch of pretzels.

ZUM ALTEN MARKT

Standing in the middle of this vivid square we soon realized salty pretzels needed to be flushed down with some beer. As we wandered tiny little streets around Viktualienmarkt passing wooden barrels full of beer deliveries, we ended up on a tiny square and sat down on the terrace of the Zum Alten Markt restaurant. There we treated ourselves with beer tasting. Our warm late afternoon passed by in autumn breeze of typical German ambient.

TRAVEL AND CHAT

I usually go wander after I get map inspired, just as we did in Munich case. I do not enjoy the trip preparations as much as I enjoy getting lost ending up at beautiful places. That is why now I signed as a Trec expert and be able to share beautiful places with others.

In the age of applications I find Trec live chat via your phone (which is always somewhere nearby, admit it) is a brilliant idea to connect people and get an insightful information about the place you are about to visit. Let’s travel and chat!

MUNICH V ENEM DNEVU

Bila je deževna jesen. A v trenutku, ko sva prispeli v Munich, naju je velikodušno pozdravilo sonce.

Stene zaraščene z bršljanom in obilje praproti so naju prevzele ob vstopu skozi masiven opečnat vhod. Nagrobniki polni maha, v senci mogočnih dreves v vseh možnih odtenkih rumene, so se vrstili ob poti, ko sva sledili korakom poznega jutra.

Sredi živahnega trga so nama slane preste dodobra osušile usta.

POTUJMO IN KLEPETAJMO

Potujmo in klepetajmo!
